FYP1_WEEK 5 (FYP WORKSHOP 2)

During week 5, a workshop was held through Microsoft Teams by the FYP  coordinator to give a briefing on chapter 1 of thesis writing. 

The contents of the briefing that was conducted by FYP coordinator are:

1) Briefing on the method and formats used for technical proposal writing.

2) Explaining on how to make a literature review using previous research papers.

3) Briefing on the contents in chapter 1 (Introduction), chapter 2 (Literature Review), and chapter 3 (Methodology).

At the end of this workshop, the things that I learned is:

1) Thesis writing is very important for FYP 1 and FYP 2 since it has a very high weightage on the marks for FYP subject.

2) it is important to do citation for the papers that we had used as our reference to appreciate the work of previous researchers.

Furthermore, i also started to create a draft for my thesis's problem statement and objectives.

Problem Statement:

-It is hard to communicate with people with speaking and listening impairment without understanding of sign language.

-Some of the products that was already developed in the academic world having problems with analog sensors since it is hard to calibrate.

Objective of The Project:

-To develop a sign language recognition system using vision-based approach with the help of computer vision and artificial intelligent that could recognize the letter gestures from Malaysian Sign Language (MSL).

-To collect hand gesture data and develop a suitable machine learning model for the sign language recognition system.

-To produce text as output on the screen in real time during the running of the sign language recognition system.
